Śrī Lalitā Sahasranāma is perhaps the most potent and exalted Stotra in the entire compendium of Devī scriptures. It is assured that sincere mastery of this Sahasranāma effortlessly clears the seeker's path towards the embrace of Devī.

On the command of Devī Herself, it was composed by the Vāgdevīs, as a supreme gift for Her devotees. Devī even assures that if a devotee is able to master and chant just one name of this Sahasranāma with complete sincerity and devotion, it is enough to receive Her grace. Such is Her compassion.

These 1000 names are potent routes of transformation. Each name is a Mantra in itself. It is a living transmission of Devī's grace. This book will provide you with a deeper understanding of each name of Devī by giving the meaning of the name after splitting it using Sandhi Viccheda and Samāsa Vigrahaḥ.

What is this Book all about?

The biggest challenge when you chant Lalitā Sahasranāma is,
that it contains many long names of Devī, which almost all students find difficult to memorise or recall the meaning. Remember, the meaning should be felt as you chant the name. It is the meaning of the name that creates the visualisation and transformation in you.

And without understanding the meaning, chanting any Stotra bestows only negligible results. Because those names have meaning that have to be felt by you as you chant. Those feelings will bring change in you. To give you an example, when you say, 'Give me some water.' You are actually experiencing the thirst and then asking for it.

In the same way, you need to feel that emotion or meaning of every name so that it can penetrate deeper into your mind and psyche and bring about the desired change. I have taken a unique approach in this book that will not only help you learn the meaning more quickly but also enable you to connect with it as you chant.

What is unique about this Book?

In this book, I have done something very interesting. I have employed the technique of Sandhi Viccheda and Samāsa Vigraha (splitting words into smaller parts) and given the meaning for each smaller part of the name.

To understand this further let's take this example:
निजारुण-प्रभापूर-मज्जद्-ब्रह्माण्ड-मण्डला
Nijāruṇa-prabhāpūra-majjadbrahmāṇḍa-maṇḍalā

Now, most of the books available will give you a single line meaning or commentary of the name as follows. Meaning: She is the one who submerges groups of Universes in the flow of Her reddish-orange lustre. This signifies that she controls everything in all these Universes, and everything happens as per Her supreme will.

When you try to remember the meaning in this manner, it becomes confusing and difficult to recall for all 1,000 names. The best way to learn the name is by breaking it down into smaller parts and understanding their meanings together.

So I have employed Sandhi Viccheda and Samāsa Vigrahaḥ, and provided the meaning of each smaller word, like this

nija – Her own;
aruṇa – reddish-orange hue;
prabhā – colour, lustre;
pūra – completely;
majjad – drowned, submerged;
brahmāṇḍa – Universe;
maṇḍalā – multiple, groups

When you now, refer back to the meaning given previously, it instantly connects with you in a couple of recitations, and then when you chant it again, the meaning will emerge as you speak the words.

What else is covered?

Additionally, the book covers a range of fascinating topics related to Śrī Vidyā and other esoteric concepts of Devī.

1. What is the perspective with which one needs to approach Śrī Lalitā Sahasranāma
2. Do you need Diksha to chant Śrī Lalitā Sahasranāma

4. How to do Dhyāna of Devī and 4 Dhyāna Shlokas

Extremely Helpful Book for Beginners

Extremely helpful for beginners who want to learn & understand about Maa & her divine form (although we may not understand everything as she is the eternal divine empress but still divine mother to us). This book helps a beginner to at least understand & get an idea as to how to begin our spiritual journey in simple words. Appreciate the team for this blessed book. May Maa guide us through our journey. Jai Mata Di.
